Reserves - Guidelines for Faculty and Instructors

This policy is meant to establish some uniformity and clarity in the preparation of materials for Reserve. Ultimately our goal is to improve service to library users.

Print Reserves

  1. Materials must be labeled and contained in folders supplied by the Copy Center, or bound in readers.
  2. Info on each label should include:
    • professor name
    • course number
    • copy number
    • Reading packet" or "Required Readings"
  3. If you will be adding material throughout the semester, please ask the Copy Center to make up large folders into which you will add additional readings designated for each week.
  4. Please remember that only REQUIRED books will be pulled from our stacks.
  5. Items not owned by the library may be ordered for purchase. Please place your request at least 3-4 weeks ahead of time to allow for ordering, shipping and processing.
  6. Materials will be processed in the order received. Please allow time for staff to recall books from patrons and to process reading packets online.
  7. All reserve material is withdrawn at the end of each semester and returned to the Copy Center for distribution to faculty/lecturers.
  8. The library is not responsible for faculty-owned items placed on reserve that are damaged or lost.
